Small Squares – August 2021

Small Squares – August 2021

August is a blur. Plain and simple. It was a month getting Simon ready to leave for two years on a mission to Kenya, getting the other three kids ready to get back into school and me doing 75 Hard. I pushed my body SO hard this month. So hard. I reaped the benefits when it was all over but August kicked my butt physically. I took Simon to get the remainder of his necessary vaccines for Kenya (fun fact: you cannot just go to your doctor and get a yellow fever vaccine; you have to go to a special travel clinic). Here then is a quick recap of August 2021.

Senior year!!!

Our cute Sophie began her senior year! Because she had enough credits to graduate early, this was her one and only semester of her senior year. She chose a JoJo Seewa lunchbox for school and we all thought it was the best lunchbox ever.

Just because it is your last semester at school doesn’t mean that school is easy or awesome. It was still a grind. Having Bebe helped 🙂

Bless that little fluffball 🙂

The daybed in my office is a favorite of mine.
Buh-bye crummy stair carpet!

I did some redecorating and moving of furniture in August. I redid our whole family picture wall and it is one of my favorite things in the whole house. We also made the leap and replaced the carpet in Sam’s office and our stairs, and added new carpet into our bedroom. Gosh it was such a nice change.

These two tried to cram as many adventures in together as possible before Simon’s mission. A favorite was going down to the lake.

Already looking like a missionary!
Grocery shopping with Simon is quite the experience 🙂

Simon helped me perform some epic surgery on my toe. It was…well…that’s all I’m going to say about that but I’m glad it was a bonding experience for us and I hope to never ever perform surgery on myself again. The end.

Back patio sunset turkey watching party!

Shannon came to visit briefly while on deployment with the Red Cross for the horrible fires in our area. So glad we got to spend a little bit of time with her.

This was still fairly early into my 75 Hard journey. For the program, you need to take a progress photo every day. For the day to day stuff it was hard to see any difference but as soon as I went back and looked at the difference over 30 days – wow! There was definitely a difference.

That sums up our busy August.
