One Night in the Sahara

One Night in the Sahara

I have dreamed for years of trekking across the Sahara Desert on camel and eventually arriving at a sumptuous tented campsite.

My dream came true…and it was fantastic. During our epic trip to Morocco we traveled from Fez to Marrakech via the Sahara Desert. It was the most spectacular journey I have ever taken. To literally make a dream come true with my husband was something I will never forget.  Authentic Sahara Tours handled the desert portion of our journey and was a great group to work with. We trekked from the edge of Merzouga into the Erg Chebbi Dunes on camel and spent one night under the stars.

This was our camp for the evening. We chose to sleep under the stars instead of inside the tents.

The Sahara Desert is the most overwhelming place I have ever visited. It is vast and ever changing and so much larger than anything I have ever seen. The desert is perspective in much the same way the night sky is; you can’t help but feel infinitesimal. Speaking of the night sky, I have never seen the sky so lit up with sparkles as I did in the desert. It was actually distracting! The sky was so bright and again, so VAST that it was difficult to fall asleep. The entire experience exceeded all of my dreams. GO and see the world. Get out there. Make your dreams a reality. Life is short and the world is wide. I want to see everything I possibly can. I want to soak it ALL up. If you are entertaining a wanderlust dream do all that you can to make it happen. I promise you will be so glad that you did.
